What is Yardsalesz.com?

Quite simply, Yardsalesz.com is a collection of listings of yard sales by the private parties. It is intended to be a quick easy way to find listings in particular areas and a place for those holding sales to get their sale advertised.


What is the cost to post a sale advertisement?

We have four types of ads. Free, Economy - $ .99, Basic - $1.95, and Featured - $4.95.


What is different about a featured ad?

A featured ad is $4.95 and adds much more information about your sale. You can even post a link to photos of the items you are selling. Charity sales can have a link to their charity website. You can write in up to 500 characters of text for special items or information. You also get your sale published on your state page.


What about a basic ad?

A basic ad is $1.95 and gives you a lot more categories of Items for Sale where a free ad only allows up to 12 basic items. You will see the list on the listing form page of items that are available for each category. You can select a rain date and write in up to 250 characters of text for special items.


What about an economy ad?

An ecomony ad is $ .99 and gives you more categories of pre-selected Items for Sale where a free ad only allows up to 12 basic items. You will see the list on the listing form page of items that are available for each category. You can select a rain date.


How can people find my ad?

Yardsalesz.com posts ads by State/County and Zip Code Prefix. Visitors can select either or both ways to search for ads and all sales listed for the county or zip will appear on that page. Ads are listed by date of sale with oldest dates first. From there they simply scroll through the list and check the cities they are interested in. Cities are arranged alphabetically and then by zip code. Featured ads are also listed on the State page in alphabetical order by date.


What is a Zip Code Prefix?

A zip code prefix is the first 3 numbers of a zip code. Usually it represents a geographic area of cities. This can extend outside county lines and even state boundaries in some cases. All ads that are placed with zip codes will have an ad on a zip page.


Which is better to search by, County or Zip?

In my personal opinion, you will find a much larger list of sales if you search by zip. Several ads coming in have not specified a certain county, in which case their ad can only be placed on the county page. Most all ads come in with Zips giving them a greater degree of exposure for their ads. The zip pages are a recent addition but growing very quickly.


Which should I provide in my ad? County or Zip?

Both are recommended, yet some people don't provide them. Let's put it in the form of exposure. If you provide only one, you will get an ad for each day of your sale on the County or Zip page. That is a total of 1 ad for each day of your sale. If you provide both county and zip, that is 2 ads for each day of sale and your exposure for your sale is so much greater. A Featured Ad will give you an additional listing on your state page. The idea behind advertising is exposure, in this case, 3 is definitely better than 2 or even 1.


Why are old sales still listed?

Every day the previous day's date is removed moving those sales into the most recently expired category. Which show approximately the last 5 sales for the area. As the dates change the oldest sales eventually drop off. The more sales that are listed, the faster they drop off.


How do I pay for my ad?

Once you complete your information and submit the form, you will be presented with a Paypal link. Click that link and choose your payment form. Paypal accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, or Bank Draft.


What if I change my mind?

If you submit your form and then for some reason change you mind about a paid ad it's not a problem. If the payment does not come through from Paypal, we will publish your ad as a free ad. We will remove any additional information other than allowable items from the free ad items. Any additional, text, links, or rain dates will be deleted as well.


What if I want to cancel a paid ad?

If the cancel date is after the sale date, no refunds will be made as the benefit of the ad has already been received. If your sale has not yet passed, please contact us right away so that we can arrange to make payment back to you. We do have to charge for fees incurred in using Paypal services.


How do I post my listing?

Just visit the listing form or click this link. On this page, you will be able to select the type of ad you wish to have for your sale. Select the type of ad and the form for that particular ad will be displayed at the bottom of the page. This is a short form and all information is necessary, so please don't leave any fields blank. In order to publish your sale information, we need to know the details so that it can be placed in the correct location. If we feel the missing information is an oversight, we will send you an email request for additional information. If missing information is deemed to be deliberate, the entire request will be discarded without notice. Yes, we do need your name and email address too.


Why do you need my name and email?

We send you a copy of your ad once it is published so that you know it is complete without having to check periodically. Your email copy is your ad proof, so that you may make changes if the original ad is not correct. We also need to know who to direct the response to. We do not complile lists, nor sell your information, that is not our purpose. Additionally, should you find a reason to cancel your ad, the email that you will receive provides an easy way for you to do.


I want to post a listing, but my County or Zip code is not linked, why is this?

Currently, Counties are listed in all states but not all of them are linked. This is because there have not been any requests for advertisements in those areas. When an advertisement comes in for a County that is not linked, the county page is created, linked, and published at that time and will remain linked. Zip's are our newest addition and only the zips that have sales in them are linked. As ads come in, new zips pages will be created, published, and linked.


I am outside the USA and would like to post an ad, is this possible?

Certainly, simply fill in the line for those Outside the USA & Canada. Enter your Country, State/Province/Region, Sub-Region (if any) and city, all separated by commas (c's) in the blank. We will then create the page and link for you.


Are there deadlines for ads?

Yes, your ad needs to be placed the day before your sale. Due to time constraints in creating ads, ads placed the same day of the sale will not be published. Additionally, you really restrict the visibility of your ad by waiting. People check ads the day before, sometimes two days, so time is of the essence in getting the most exposure for your sale. Please allow up to 24 hours for your ad to be published. We will send you an email when we create it and que it for publishing.


What makes Yardsalesz.com successful?

Several things. Have you ever tried to find an easy way to search yardsales in an area? We have, and that ordeal lead to the creation of this much needed website. Most sites are confusing, they're unorganized and it takes a lot of clicks to get the information you want. With yardsalesz.com, simply go to the area you want and print the page. All the sales in that county or zip are organized by date and you can take your list with you when you go shopping. Not to mention customers can list the main items available for sale. With other sites, you have to click each yardsale link. That takes too much time away from getting the deals.


Can I add photos of some items in my ad?

. We don't accept photos but we will link to a website that has them published for you. You will need to purchase a featured ad to do so for $4.95. You may add a link in your description for Other items to a website where you can store photos, like www.photobucket.com. You will need an account, then simply cut and paste your link.
